| A baby with autism may be unresponsive to people around them or focus on an object to the exclusion of others for long periods of time. A child with autism may develop normally and then withdraw into an autismic state.
Children with autism may not respond to their name and often avoid contact with their eyes to other people. They have a hard time interpreting what others are thinking or feeling because they can’t figure out what facial expressions or other social cues signal to them.
